New Rustix Special: Build Your Own Charcuterie Board

charcuterie board

Do you know a budding salumi or formaggi expert (fancy terms for meat and cheese experts) in need of a stylish charcuterie board? Rustix has the perfect gift for them – or the ideal accessory for your own home!

COVID may have reduced the hours in the Rustix Workshop, our series of food-and-woodworking events, but we have the perfect solution for those missing out on the fun: the Build-A-Board kit. This complete kit lets you finish a charcuterie board, keep it in great condition, and helps you choose what to serve off it!

What’s In The Rustix Build Your Own Charcuterie Kit?

With our build-your-own charcuterie kit, we bring the materials to make the board – you can work on it just like you would in a Rustix Workshop! The kit includes:

  • 15” Branded Live Edge Walnut Charcuterie Board
  • Hand sander
  • Four sheets of sandpaper (two 220-grit and two 400-grit)
  • Two lint-free wiping cloths
  • 1-oz jar wood wax (to protect the wood while keeping it safe to eat off of)
  • Table covering
  • Instructions

To help get you started with a lovely charcuterie, we also include a layout guide in the kit. You’ll be laying out a delicious array of meats, cheeses, and other hors d’oeuvres like a pro in no time!

Pick Up The Rustix Build-A-Board Kit For The Holiday Season!

The Build-A-Board kit is the perfect gift for the foodie in your life. They get to put their hands to work to make something they’ll treasure forever. It’s also the ideal “buy local” present: the walnut board comes from local London trees, and we hand-cut them in the Rustix studio to make sure that only the best end up in each kit.

The kit is also perfect because it comes right before one of the biggest charcuterie holidays of the year: New Year’s Eve! The festivities this year will probably be a bit more muted, which makes the need for fancy foods – and the fancy boards that go beneath them – extra important.

If you’re looking to give the Build-A-Board kit as a gift this winter season, might we suggest some foods to help your giftee get the party started?

  • Cheese from a local cheesemaker. One of the best local options is Gunn’s Hill Artisan Cheeses, and you can’t go wrong with their 5 Brothers!
  • Meat from a local butcher. Try to buy an assortment of cured meats, like prosciutto and mortadella, right from a butcher – they’ll be able to recommend the best options. Do it close to your gift exchange!
  • Small-batch preserves and savoury jellies. Local small business Glen Farms Gourmet makes a great assortment of jams, jellies, and hot sauces.
  • Wine from a local winery. Ontario is lucky to have some of the best wineries in Canada – pair the board kit with a nice local vintage!
