What We’ve Been Up To
2017 has been such an amazing year for us! We’ve grown so much in such a short time, in the process transforming ourselves into more than just a custom furniture company. As we’ve expanded into new ventures and taken on unconventional projects, we’ve had the good fortune of meeting amazing new clients and being a part of so many special things!
2017 in Review
Every project is our favorite project, of course, and we put so much love into all of our commissioned pieces. However, 2017 is the year we moved from making just live edge tables and other residential furniture to more expansive orders. It’s allowed us to really think outside the box, put our skills to the test, and create entirely new spaces with natural wood.
We were honored to do a custom job for the Fanshawe Student Union this November, collaborating with Complete Interiors & Design Ltd. to put together a super creative student space and reception desk. “Inspiring students” is now something we can add to our repertoire, so if you’re on campus, stop by the FSU and admire our work!
We also helped a trendy local restaurant add some great touches to an incredible transformation. The Icarus Restobar on Richmond did a complete overhaul, and they commissioned us to put together all the surfaces. We installed a 23-foot Spalted Maple live edge bar, 15 custom tables, and a ton of shelving, as well as provided the charcuterie boards. Helping turn Icarus into a work of art was definitely one of the high points of this year!
Oh, and in October, we welcomed the cutest bundle of joy into our home! We can’t wait to see what the future has in store for you, Sophie.
From London With Love
This whirlwind of a year isn’t just the result of sheer luck, though. We’ve worked hard to get the word out on what we do and how we do it, and it has definitely paid off. Our new showroom and shop allow customers to come in and have an intimate look at our products and our process. Our newly designed website allows us to show off our creations to a wider audience, connecting us with new clients across the country. Even the massive size of our wood furniture doesn’t deter people from placing custom orders – as evidence, we recently shipped our first table outside of Ontario!
Rustix is also now licensed by Ontario Wood. This is a certification that supports artisanal craftspeople who use local wood in their projects. Any business with the Ontario Wood seal means that they support the community by using environmentally-friendly, locally sourced, real wood materials. It’s an honor to be a part of this initiative and to have the support of both the Province and other small businesses!
To say that 2017 has been a huge year for us is an understatement. It has been so fulfilling both personally and professionally, and we’re sure it’ll only going get better. Here’s to another incredible year in 2018!
